For the July 4 weekend, we loaded up the car and headed north to meet Jenna and Nick in Santa Rosa. We walked around a lake, cooked dinner, and tasted wine with some goats.
Next we continued up to Mt. Shasta area and stopped to hike Hedge Creek Falls. We camped at Lake Siskiyou and had rain two nights in a row. We hiked up the Heart Lake trail for great views of Castle Lake, amd we returned the next day to paddleboard. On the drive out, we stopped to visit McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park.
We made another stop to walk through the Subway Cave lava tube en route to Lassen Volcanic National Park. We camped one night in the park and visited lakes, meadows, and geothermal areas. On the way home, we met up with friends near Mammoth for one last camp out in the woods.
